Good evening, council members.
Tonight I want to talk about loving one's neighbor.
But first, the word "holy" in the Bible is used to identify something or someone who has been set apart for God, who has been reserved for God, and who has been dedicated to God. All of you swore an oath with your hands on a Bible when you accepted your positions. You have all separated, reserved, and dedicated yourselves to God. You have made yourselves holy. Furthermore, an invocation to God was made at the beginning of this meeting. This meeting, and all that takes place within it, is holy.
And what is it that this God wants us to do? First and foremost, He wants us to love Him completely. Secondly, He wants us to love our neighbors completely. I would argue that one cannot truly love God without loving one's neighbor. So, what does loving one's neighbor look like?
For the neighbors that are doctors, nurses, administrators and advocates for abortion, I show my love of them by praying that they will one day realize the nature of the horrors they are promoting and convert.
For the neighbors that are the parents, husbands, boyfriends and pimps who force scared women into an abortion against their will, I show my love for them by praying that justice will be served so that they may realize the errors of their ways and improve themselves.
For the neighbors that are the women who contemplate abortion, I show my love for them by helping them find resources to support themselves and the child should they choose to keep it, or to provide spiritual and mental healing for those who regret their choice of executing their own child.
But most importantly, for my neighbors who are yet unborn, I show my love for them by speaking out on their behalf, because they cannot speak at all.
Chapter 2, Article X of the County Code of Ordinances recognizes that a human being exists as soon as a sperm fertilizes an egg. Existing state law implies this, and all three bills before congress would make this explicit.
Furthermore, the county code claims that the unborn have the same rights as anyone else. But this is a profane lie! The code also allows the child to be executed by its mother instead of going through the due process of law that those of us who have been born have a right to. In the days of Roe v. Wade, when this policy was created, the county was indeed hamstrung by SCOTUS case law. But this case law has been overturned, and this profane absurdity need not exist anymore.
There is no need for Greenville County to allow abortions within its jurisdiction. I ask you, the council who have publicly sanctified yourselves to the Lord, to remove this profane absurdity and give all your constituents equal rights. Love of your neighbor demands it.
Thank you. I would like to submit this transcript for the record.
